So this is it – the famous VLT (Very Large Telescope) run by the “European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere” (www.eso.org)

What a place to go….
Located at 4321m in the Atacama desert – this is one of the must have tourist thingyies you need to have done.
I got up at 03:00, met the group at 04:00, spent the bumpiest 3,5h of my life in a freezing cold bus, and all that without coffee… But once you made it there – it is sooooo totally worth it :)
During a business trip to Chile I took the chance and spent some private time on a trip to San Pedro.
These pictures ware taken in a height of about 5100m (16.750 ft). Once you get used to the height – this site is quite an amazing place to be.
This dish is part of the Millimeter and Submillimeter astronomy group at the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie (MPIfR). If I am not wrong – the dish is about 12m in diameter.
