So this is it – the famous VLT (Very Large Telescope) run by the “European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere” (www.eso.org)

Located at about 2600m on a mountain called Paranal. One of the largest telescopes on this planet. I could not believe the size of theses things. Really crazy…

These are a bunch of shots I took during my day trips in Chile.
Most of them are from the Valley de la Luna near San Pedro.

What a place to go….

Located at 4321m in the Atacama desert – this is one of the must have tourist thingyies you need to have done.
I got up at 03:00, met the group at 04:00, spent the bumpiest 3,5h of my life in a freezing cold bus, and all that without coffee… But once you made it there – it is sooooo totally worth it :)

One hint though – eat light and don’t party too hard the night before. If not the altitude – the road there will get you :)
Go there if you can…. But bring some warm clothes :) We were welcomed by -14 °C

During a business trip to Chile I took the chance and spent some private time on a trip to San Pedro.

These pictures ware taken in a height of about 5100m (16.750 ft). Once you get used to the height – this site is quite an amazing place to be.

This dish is part of the Millimeter and Submillimeter astronomy group at the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie (MPIfR). If I am not wrong – the dish is about 12m in diameter.

These shots were taken during a live concert of Munich’s coolest export – a band called “EMIL BULLS”

I recently had the chance to play around with some studio gear. We decided to go really wild and crazy this time and shot – Flowers :)

These shots were taken during our vacation in Canada. Some of them were made in Toronto, others at the Niagara falls (in case you did not notice them) others in Ottawa.
What can I say – Canada rocks – I need to get there again as soon as I can.

A couple of weeks ago, Michael, Timo and Lens Avenue arranged a small workshop about Lighting. I kinda got stuck with the portrait lighting. What an awful lot of fun to play around like that.
